4 apples cut into 1-inch chunks- skin peeled or left on-your choice
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar-I prefer dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoon butter
¼ cup heavy cream
- Place the first 4 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag, seal, and toss to coat the apples.
- Pour the coated apples into a medium saucepan with 2 tablespoons of water, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, about 8 minutes or until apples are tender and sauce begins to thicken.
- Pour in the heavy cream and continue to cook for 1 more minute. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, sour cream, or plain yogurt.
