Recently, my IF Facebook group discussed potassium as it relates to potassium-rich foods that are lower carb.
I know a lot of people who regularly eat bananas as a source of potassium, but don't consider that the higher sugars in bananas can be the enemy of anyone with metabolic syndrome or anyone who is watching their sugar intake in general. And, eating a high sugar banana first thing in the morning will trigger insulin and hunger, often leading to a mid-morning snack. If you are trying to lower your insulin finding a high potassium alternative food would be a good idea.
Below is an article and list of potassium rich foods.
Here are some examples of low-carb potassium-rich foods you could include in your diet:
Spinach
Avocado
Salmon
Mushrooms
Tomato
Kale
Yogurt (unsweetened)
Broccoli
Meat (beef, pork, chicken)
Clams
Asparagus
Black tea (unsweetened)
