A busy week.  My builders Jamie and Rob got into the guts of the project and removed and repaired almost all of the rafters.  This added work may set us back a few days, but will be well worth the effort.  With the new support, Jamie was able to eliminate all possibility of needing to add a post to support the 15 foot span created by removing the wall.

The plumbing has been diverted down the short wall that remains next to the new refrigerator space.  I am very relieved because again, this eliminates a need for a post.

Now the space is completely open for us to see.  We are really getting a chance to appreciate the space and the light from  the two large windows on the east end of the new kitchen.  We keep taking down the plastic so that we can take in the new view.

In addition to all the work that was accomplish on the kitchen, Jamie and Rob were able to create a full functioning kitchen for me that includes my old sink, dishwasher, and stove.  This has been great for family meals.   However, cooking to prepare for classes is done at a dear friend's in-law apartment while her parents are away for the winter.

So far, everything has been smooth and uncomplicated.
